Step 1
Beware of too much color. Yellow is the opposite of purple on the color wheel. Opposite colors usually look really good together but in this case you might end up feeling like you are a walking crayon box. Pair yellow with a pair of jeans if you're not used to wearing the color. This way you will still feel in your element.
-
Step 2
Lighten it up. Yellow is a breezy color so let it do its thing. For a summer look pair a yellow dress with white shoes or a white jacket. For an unusual combination try yellow & gray.
-
Step 3
Think of autumn. Mother nature pairs yellows with deep burgundies & chocolate browns. These are some of the hottest colors in fashion right now. A chocolate color will tone down the yellow.
-
Step 4
Use it as an accessory. If you want to brighten up your wardrobe but you're not sure about yellow, try integrating a gold pearl necklace in your wardrobe. Pick up a fun pair of yellow ballet flats & pair then with your regular wardrobe staples. Buy a yellow purse. Colorful purses are in style & it's not too much of an investment if you decide later that yellow isn't right for you.
-
Step 5
Know when to stop. There may be a temptation to have yellow shoes, a yellow purse & even a yellow handbag. You might have come across a unique bright yellow eyeshadow that you are dying to try out. Instead, use yellow as an accent color so it's not too overwhelming. Just use one yellow piece & keep your makeup neutral.
-
Step 6
Switch to a gold. Yellow may not work with your skin tone or you might even feel like you are sticking out too much. Switch to a gold color that is still striking & unusual but you might feel more serene in it.
-
Step 7
Prepare to be noticed. If you wear a daffodil colored coat, you will turn heads. Make sure that you are confidant in how you look & that your hair & makeup is in order so you aren't uncomfortable with all the attention.
