      Beeswax Pellets

      MELT THE BEESWAX

The first step is to melt your beeswax. You will want to fill a medium-sized tin can with beeswax, preferably beeswax pellets. These can be found locally by talking to your local beekeeper or they can be found online at any soap making store. Pour the pellets into the can about 3/4 full. Place the tin can into a pot that is filled about half way up with water. Heat the pot over medium heat until the wax has melted completely. Turn the heat down to low. You are now ready for step 2.

      Candle Wick Roll

      DIPPING THE CANDLES

Now that your wax is prepared, you can begin dipping your candles. Take a roll of candle wick, which can be found online at any candle making store, and cut off a length of 16 inches. This will be enough for 2 candles, one on each end. Dip each end of the wick down into the melted wax, about 4-6 inches deep, in a 1-2 motion. The 1-2 motion should be counted as seconds: Down (1 second), Up (1 second). Let the candle cool for about 10 to 15 seconds in between dips. Remember not to let the wick sit too long in the wax or the wax will melt right off. Down and up, 1-2.

      Cooling the Beeswax Candles

      COOLING YOUR CANDLES

When your candle width has reaches a goodly size, approximately 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter, then it is time to cool them. Place two bricks on a hard, flat surface, standing upright, about 12 inches apart. Lay a painting stick, the type that is used to stir paint with, lengthwise in between the bricks. Next, place the candles across the painting stick so that the painting stick separates the two candles. This is demonstrated in the pictures shown here.
