Owning a harley had thought me to take close attention to the beginnings of rust on my chrome. Actually you want to keep an eye for rust on anything made of chrome on your car, bike, etc. If you don't take care of the rust while its real tiny you'll have bigger problems that you won't be able to rub away later.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Steel wool, grade 0000
  • Muscle power
  1. Step 1

Go down to your hardware store and pickup a bag of grade 0000 steel wool. It looks like cleaning pads moms used on pots on pans before the pots got coated. Ha! Now you know how old I am. This steel wool is so fine that it won't scratch the chrome on your precious car though it will rub off the tiny rust spots.

  2. Step 2

Look for the small signs of rust on your chrome. Some times it looks like specks of pepper. Check out any place that may be exposed to moisture.

  3. Step 3

Now take a pad of steel wool and rub it briskly. Don't worry, you won't see any scratchs from your rubbing the rust away. Now that was easy huh?

Tips & Warnings
  • While working with the steel wool it will break down into small pieces looking like tiny wires. Don't forget to clean up your area when done.

on 1/16/2009 Your welcome. I know that you probably don't have the rust issues as bad as we do here in Hawaii, surrounded by the ocean. Aloha
