Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • parge mix
  • trowel
  • scaffolding or ladder
  • bucket of water
  • sponge
  1. Step 1

First you must prepare your house and chimney for the parging. Remove all siding and J-Channel from around the chimney.

  2. Step 2

Now you will want to wirebrush or scrape the chimney clean. Be sure to remove all flaking parge and dirt.

  3. Step 3

You will mix the parge as discribed on the bag. Use a sponge to wet down the chimney from the bottom-ground up a few feet. Some people prefer a smooth surface, use the wet sponge to smooth out the trowel marks, or make designs using the trowel.

  4. Step 4

You will continue this process in segments until your reach the top of the chimney.
