Step 1
Take some time each day to close your eyes and think about whatever scares you most. Try to hold an image of it in your mind as long as you can. This, naturally, will upset you, but if you do it at a regular time every day in a relaxing setting, it will gradually upset you less and less. Try listening to music that soothes you or eating food you enjoy while you do this to help you feel better.

Step 2
Pictures can help you overcome phobiasWhen you feel ready, and this may take weeks, try viewing pictures of what scares you. Do a Google image search and try to view the little thumbnails of the pictures. If you do this every day, it will upset you less and less. Eventually, move on to viewing bigger pictures.
-
Step 3
Physical objects can help you overcome phobiasAfter you are comfortable with pictures, go to a toy store and try to buy a little toy of what scares you. Small animals, like mice and snakes and spiders, will be easy to find. Other objects like heights and crowds will be more difficult, but try to be creative and buy something that will remind of what you fear. Spend a little time with the object every day until you become comfortable with it.

Step 4
You are ready to overcome your phobias. When the toy doesn't scare you, you know that you have systematically desensitized yourself from your fear. You likely no longer feel nearly as scared as you used to. It may be time to be brave and go to the zoo or visit a tall building, or do whatever you need to do. Be sure to take a buddy with you who can help you in case you feel nervous. You may surprise yourself with your new bravery.
