Want to know how to glue wood for a carpentry or artistic project? There are several varities of wood glue that make virtually any wood gluing job a snap!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood glue
  • Possibly a glue gun, based on your job
  1. Step 1

Realize off the bat that there are specific wood glues designed for gluing wood. Don't settle for a non-wood glue for this type of carpentry project.

  2. Step 2

Know if your specific wood gluing job requires a glue gun or a specific type of wood glue. There are many different types of wood glue, from the basic yellow wood glue to epoxy wood glue to polyurethane glue. Each one has its specific strengths and weaknesses, so try to match up the best wood glue for your project.

  3. Step 3

Always use the wood glue as directed. Yellow carpenter's glue is the most basic type of wood glue that will work for the majority of projects requiring you to glue wood.

  4. Step 4

If you don't need a glue gun, get the two pieces of wood you need to glue, and attatch the two pieces of wood hinge style with scotch tape. Use the wood glue in the gap, push the two pieces together (the scotch tape prevents spillage onto the carpet). Then remove the scotch tape.

  5. Step 5

Let the wood glue dry, and that's it. It really is that simple to glue wood.

Tips & Warnings
  • White wood glue dries clearer, but is best for light jobs.
  • Make sure to know what your project requires before diving in head first. Last thing you want to do is glue together two pieces of wood that shouldn't be.
