    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • beads
    • two headpins
    • two ear wires
    • jewelry tools: wire cutters, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers
      • 1

Begin by gathering your jewelry making tools. To make earrings with beads, you'll need wire cutters, flat nose pliers, and round nose pliers.

      • 2

Decide what design you want to make for your beaded earrings. Play with the beads, stringing different assortments on a headpin to see what you like best. For these earrings, I used blue millefiori glass beads, sterling silver round beads, headpins, and fish hook ear wires.

      • 3

String the beads on the headpins. Remember, this is your place to get creative!

      • 4

Next, make a 90-degree bend in the headpin fairly close to the top bead using the needle nose pliers.

      • 5

With the round nose pliers, make a loop (or circle) by bending the long straight end of the headpin around the pliers.

Snip the excess wire where the loop crosses to create a simple loop (not wire wrapped). Repeat to make the other earring dangle. Set these dangles aside.

      • 6

Open the loop on the bottom of the fish hook ear wires, moving the loop wire back using the flat nose pliers (do not open the loop out so the opening is wide).

Attach this loop to the ear wire by slipping the dangle's loop to the ear wire loop. Close the ear wire loop using the flat nose pliers. Repeat for the second earring.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If your two earrings don't exactly match, don't sweat it. No one is going to get that close to your ears to examine them!

    • Make charms for all sorts of things using this technique.

    • Beading is addictive!

Excellent instructions. One tip about opening the loop on the wire hooks... move the wire side to side instead of pulling back on the wire. Pulling back will distort the circle of wire, where as side to side will not.
