Make the Best Banana Bread

Banana bread has always been a favorite in my family. My mom used to be the one to make it but now the recipe and the fun has been passed down to me. Yes, all the brown bananas seem to quickly make their way to my house for bread baking.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • large bowl
  • mixer
  • bread pan
  • oven
  • toothpicks
  1. Step 1

Prepare your ingredients. Make sure the butter is softened enough for mixing. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease the bottom of the bread pan.

  2. Step 2

In a large bowl, mix the butter and the sugar with a mixer. Add the eggs and mix well.

  3. Step 3

Peel the bananas and place them on a plate and mash with a fork until it is completely mashed up. Add the bananas and the water to the bowl and beat for 30 seconds.

  4. Step 4

Add in everything else but the nuts and mix until moistened. Stir in the nuts if you are adding them.

  5. Step 5

Bake approximately one hour until a toothpick in the center comes out clean. Let cool for five minutes. Run a knife around the edges of the pan and pop out the bread onto a plate to finish cooling.

  6. Step 6

    Slice and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can replace the nuts with chocolate chips for a different variety.
  • This bread is wonderful warm with a little butter on it.
