There is nothing quite as romantic as a person making their living as a writer. Most people believe that the life of a full time writer is one that is filled with lying by the pool with a cool drink. This is not usually the case. There are exceptions but for the most part it takes a lot of hard work to become a full time writer. If you have a passion for the written word and a desire to build this passion into a full time career then you may have what it takes to become a full time writer.

Save up at least 8 months worth of living expenses if you want to become a full time writer. Most full time writers work on a project basis when they are starting out as a full time writers. This means that when there is no work available, you will have no money coming into you. This can be scary for most people trying to become a full time writer. The savings that you have will help you to make ends meet as you build up your writing business.

Look for full time writing work. As a full time writer, it is important to have multiple clients at all times that you are working for. This will help to guarantee you a consistent flow of work. It is better to have too much work when you are trying to become a full time writer then not enough work to cover bills. You will want to continually look for new clients through out your writing career.

Quit your non- writing day job. This is the step that most wannabe full time writers have a problem making. To make a real go at a writing career, you must dedicate your time and all of your efforts to this endeavor. The only way to fail at something is not to give it an honest try.

Wish I could have done tip #1; however, circumstances did not allow me to do so. Nevertheless, I viewing this as an opportunity to begin pursuing my first love, which is writing. And, yes, it is hard work! Good article. -
