Create a magical party for less.
Create a magical party for less.

Throw a champagne Oscar party on a beer budget with these bargain decoration and party supply ideas.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Act fast: If you choose "stars" as your theme for Oscar night, you can find plenty of star garlands, ornaments, candle-holders and more in the Christmas and New Year clearance sections now. Watch for silver and gold items like plates, napkins and serving dishes, too, to help fill in your table.

  2. Step 2

Or take your time! After Valentine's Day you can find great deals, as well. With Oscar night set for February 22, you'll have a week to bargain hunt for your party. Look for items with some glitz and glam like foil-wrapped candy or long-stemmed silk roses.

  3. Step 3

Use candy to decorate. Look for boxes of movie candy on sale for a dollar or less at grocery or discount stores to make "centerpieces." Fill footed bowls with a wide selection of colorful boxes, and make sure guests know to dig in when the show starts. Or hand the unopened boxes out as favors at the end of the night.

  4. Step 4

Bring out your inner child. Look for Oscar Party decorations and favors in the kid's section. You'll find tiaras, plastic bling and feather boas just right for your visiting divas.

Tips & Warnings
  • Save on your outfit, too. If your Oscar Party will be ladies only, ask your guests to wear their most loved (or hated) bridesmaid gown. Create a red carpet area and take digital photos to share.
