Do you have a wedding coming up? If you want your wedding day to go smooth and beautiful as silk, follow these easy suggestions!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Family and friends will love to see you special engagement portrait and they are a perfect way to get to know your photographer before your wedding. Schedule your sitting six months before the wedding and you’ll have great pictures for your shower, rehearsal dinner and other pre-wedding events.

  2. Step 2

Send in your engagement photograph to the newspapers you want to be announced in. If you live in a large city, make sure you do this at least five months in advance to ensure it gets printed on time.

  3. Step 3

Make a “shot list”. Give your photographer your shot list at least two months before the wedding. Include a seating chart and get a friend to point out key family members on both sides of the family. Ensure you talk to all those who you want to be in your shot list. The more you communicate the smoother the photo sessions will be.

  4. Step 4

By scheduling some of your formals when your fitted gown arrives, you have a great excuse to try it on to make sure the dress doesn’t need minor alterations. Get your groom and/or bride’s maids in on the fun too. Great portraits can be taken in gown and tux at a beautiful outdoor spot. Some brides don’t want to see the groom before the wedding… that’s okay, just make it 'your' special day.

  5. Step 5

Send your photographer information like the addresses and phone numbers where you’ll be dressing for the wedding, your ceremony, and reception locations. Include proper attire, contact information of your wedding coordinator, maps and parking. This will ensure your photographer will be at all the right places at the right times.

  6. Step 6

Schedule your formals before the ceremony. You can take family and attendant shots and your solo session if you don’t want the groom to see you before the wedding. If you wait until after the ceremony, your guests may wait too long or you may feel rushed. The most common complaint from brides is that they felt there wasn’t enough time to do the photographs they most wanted. The wedding is a very busy day for everyone, so be prepared!

  7. Step 7

Give your family, wedding party and friends a schedule of the photo locations for the formals. This will save a lot of time and confusion.

  8. Step 8

If you want the formals to be on your wedding day, schedule most of them before the ceremony. This gives everyone ample time to get together and no one will feel rushed.

  9. Step 9

Be sure to test any new makeup and/or skincare products at least a week before the wedding. If you have an allergic reaction, you’ll have time to recover.

  10. Step 10

Drink lots of water the day before the wedding. Get plenty of sleep the night before and try to relax. The day before the wedding is a perfect time to get that massage along with your facial and other beauty rituals. It may be the biggest day of your life, but there’s no need for stress. Remember, it should be the happiest day of your life too!
