Rejection is a normal part of everyone’s life. It would be nice if I could tell you that you will never have to face rejection. Unfortunately, that would be a lie. You may be living a life where you experience more rejection then the rest. Think of being a freelance writer as being one of these lives. Rejection is something that if not handled in the right way can lead you to stop taking actions to move forward in your life. Many people have been paralyzed by the fear of rejection because they do not know how to handle it. Do not be one of those people.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take an honest look at the rejection that you received. There are many types of rejections that you will encounter. There are the professional or work rejections that you will have to handle. When you take a look at these rejections, it is important to not take them personally. Personal rejections, like being rejected for a date, are hard not take personally. You will need to honestly look at the rejections and realize that you do not truly know why the person rejected you. Realize that to handle rejection, you have to be ok that you will not always know why you were rejected.

  2. Step 2

Accept the fact that you were rejected. Many people continue to live in denial after facing a rejection. This is a very unhealthy way to handle rejection. You have to accept the fact that you were rejected and be ok with it. This will make it much easier to handle when you have an overall feeling of acceptance when it comes to the rejection.

  3. Step 3

Move on past the rejection. This is often easier said then done when it comes to handling rejection. To be able to keep moving ahead in your life, you need to be able to put the rejection behind you. This means that you will not continue to dwell on the rejection. It is important to know when you handle rejection that just because you were rejected once does not mean that it will happen again. By placing the rejection behind you, you will be able to take a chance and try again.
