How to Decorate Cupcakes for Valentine's Day

Are you baking something special for your sweetie? Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and it is never too soon to start planning ahead for the day of love.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Any flavor of cupcakes
• Red and white frosting
• Hershey's Kisses
• Red Hot candies
• Chocolate chips
• Red sugar and sprinkles
• Red M & M's
• Other assortment of Valentine's Day candies

1. Make your cupcakes and let cool. For an added touch, use Valentine's Day themed baking cups. Many may have hearts or kisses.

2. Spread red frosting on 1/2 of the cupcakes and white frosting on the other 1/2.

3. Start getting creative! You can put a Hershey's chocolate kiss on the center of a cupcake and dot chocolate chips around it. You can surround it with sprinkles or the red sugar, as well.

4. Put chocolate chips all over some of the red cupcakes like polka dots (this may even look like a ladybug to some). Put Red Hots on the white cupcakes. Now you will have two different set of Valentine's Day polka dot cupcakes!

5. If you have a steady hand, write you and your sweetie's initials with a heart around them. You can also design 2 halves to one heart (each cupcake is one half of the heart) or a "key to my heart" (one cupcake has a key on it, the other has a heart with a keyhole - your sweetie gets the cupcake with the key).

6. Have fun decorating cupcakes and by all means, get creative with your toppings and make your own!

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure to have a way to carry and present the cupcakes to your recipient- either in a Valentine's Day tin or a cupcake tray.
• You can make these up to 1 day in advance for best freshness.
• Chocolate can be a powerful aphrodisiac, so be prepared if the mood changes.
