Step 1
The first thing you should do before even submitting your resume for that "perfect" job you've found is find a way to stand out. One of those ways is to do some research on the company you are planning on submitting that resume and cover letter to, before you actually do. This allows you to tailor your cover letter and resume to the company and job position you are applying for, making your resume hopefully stand out from the crowd a bit.
-
Step 2
If you get the call to come in for an interview, do some more research on the company so that you can ask intelligent questions that the interviewers will recognize as you having put thought into. Dress appropriately for the interview, the better dressed you are, the better you'll feel during the interview and the interviewers will recognize the fact that you put care and effort into your appearance, which is what companies want reflected in their environment.
-
Step 3
Give yourself plenty of travel time to the interview location, arriving early will also help you feel less stressed, the last thing you need on an interview is worrying about getting there on time.
-
Step 4
Be prepared for questions that are hypothetical, most employers ask questions like this just to see how you operate under pressure, so be prepared for this, it gives employers an idea of how you may operate under stress.
