Things You'll Need:
- Phone
- Enthusiasm
- Good Sense of Humor
-
Step 1
sleepMake sure you are well rested before you get on the phone. Callers can tell if you are tired and have low energy. Your enthusiasm will help keep the callers on the line. If you are well rested and enthusiastic the caller will feed off of your energy.
-
Step 2
Always answer the phone on the first ring! By answering quickly the caller doesn't have to wait for you. The longer the caller waits the more likely they are to hang up. By answering quickly you can increase your call hold time.
-
Step 3
SmileWhen you answer the phone always answer with a smile. Even though the caller can't see your smile they can tell that you are smiling. When you answer the phone answer as if you are accepting a call from a friend. Saying "Hi" or "Hi there" is more appropriate than a formal hello.
-
Step 4
Use a name that is realistic. Use a name like Jackie, Amanda, Shelly, something common. Avoid names like Porshe and Candy.
-
Step 5
Stay focused on your caller. Pay attention to what the caller wants and follow through on his fantasy. Don't talk to your dog while your on a call, don't make noise that disrupts the caller. Focus on him and you will keep him on the line.
