Have you ever wondered how to acheive the big, dramatic, poofy hair all the scene kids have? Do you want your hair to be "long on bottom, and poofy on top"? Well here's your step by step guide to style a fashion mullet, or to get "scene hair".

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scissors
  • Bleach/Black Hair Dye
  • Bright-Colored Hair Dye
  • Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Blow Drier
  • Flat Iron
  • Volumizing Hair Spray
  • Teasing Comb/Bristle Brush
  • Fine Tooth Comb
  1. Step 1
    Cut

    Cut

Either get your hair cut professionally, or cut it yourself. Aim for what they call a fashion mullet, or a mullet with long bangs and extremley choppy layers.

  2. Step 2
    Dye

    Dye

Once your hair is cut, dye it. Bleach blonde with bright colored streaks and chunks works out nicely, or jet black with bleached chunks works too.

  3. Step 3
    Flip

    Flip

After your hair is dyed, flip your head upside down, and blow dry your hair while brushing it downward. Once it's dry, coat it with your volumizing hair spray.

  4. Step 4
    Straighten

    Straighten

Flip your hair back up. You'll notice it's standing up pretty well. Coat it again with hairspray, and immediately start straighening your hair. Straighten the bottom layer perfectly straight, and the sides and top upward and out away from your head.

  5. Step 5
    Back Brush

Next, grab a section of a layer of your hair, starting at the bottom layer, and spray it lightly with the hair spray. Back brush it, or brush your hair in towards your head. Do this until your hair is poofy to your liking.

  6. Step 6
    Spray

Finish off with a quick spritz of hair spray all over, and lay your bangs across one eye.

Tips & Warnings
  • The bigger the better, if it's not big enough, more back brushing!
  • If your hair isn't long enough on the bottom, try extensions. You can buy clip in extensions, or get them sewn into your hair.
  • Use the fine tooth comb to smooth out pieces that are too tangled without pulling your poof down.
  • Make sure your hair doesn't get to tangled.
  • Dyes and sprays can be harsh on your hair. Make sure you use lots of conditioner in the shower to keep your hair moisturized.
