How to Make Your Own Nutrition Facts Label

In this guide you will learn how to make your own nutrition facts labels for free, quickly and easily.

Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Sign In or Register
    Sign In or Register

    Go to http://www.nutritiondata.com and sign in (or register if this is your first time)

  2. Step 2

    Once you are logged in, click on "Analyze Recipe" (see picture)

    Click on "Create Recipe" (see picture)

    Enter a recipe name and preparation instructions (optional). Then search for your first ingredient under "ADD INGREDIENT" and click "Search"

    Depending on what you have searched for, a number of possible results may show up. Find the one that best describes what you have. Click on the orange plus sign to the right of the ingredient to add it to your recipe.
    In the example in the picture, the search is for "Wheat Flour" as you can see, there are two pages of results.

    Now select the quantity and the units for the ingredient. For example, with the Wheat Flour, type in 4 in the quantity box ('Qty') and select "1 cup(125 grams)" for a recipe that uses 4 cups of whole wheat flour (see picture).

    Continue this process for all the ingredients

    Now select the number of servings that your recipe makes. Click on the drop down list next to "SERVINGS". This corresponds to the serving size on the nutrition label.

    Once your recipe is complete, click "Save & Analyze"

    Your nutritional label is now created. You can change around the serving size by click on the drop down menu next to "Serving size". You can then download a printable label by clicking on "Download Printable Label Image" (see picture)

    Print label and affix to package

Tips & Warnings
  • You can save ingredients so that you can find them quicker next time
  • If search for a ingredient with many results and you have something in your saved ingredients with that name, it will only show that saved ingredient. To have it show everything, click on " See Results From Nutrition Data Foods"
  • If you can't find a certain ingredient, try using a different or shorter name for it
