How to Succeed in Life When You're Not a Bastard

Are you a nice, kind person who has found yourself surrounded by bastards? Whether these are at work, in your relationships or somewhere else, you can learn to succeed despite others trying to pull you down. Here is how.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patience
  • Belief in yourself
  1. Step 1

Accept that bastards will always be around -- this will not change. Bastards are people who are selfish, users, manipulative, deceptive, cold, evil, shallow and who try to cut you down to make themselves feel better.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether you want to sink to their level -- it's easier to fit in for the short term, but do you want to sacrifice who you really are as a person? This decision is important.

  3. Step 3

If you choose to be a non-bastard make a plan -- decide what you will need to do to live your life successfully in the midst of bastards. How can you reduce their affect on you? How can you avoid their negativity and build up your own positivity?

  4. Step 4

In your plan, include changes you can make -- can you change where you work, live, or who you hang out with? If you're not ready to change right away, can you plan a move for later in the year or even in the next few months?

  5. Step 5

Remember that good attracts good -- by choosing the hard path of being a nice person, it may be harder short term, but long term you will reap the rewards. Plus, you will attract other good people for your personal relationships and business ventures!

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, it can be frustrating when you realize that people or situations around you are bastard-ish. Take time to heal from being let down and disapointed.
  • Never forget that your life is what you make it -- not what you see around you.
  • Changes are hard to make, but very important for your happiness.
  • Do not try to change a bastard.
  • Focus on changing yourself and your choices only -- which are the only things under your control.

on 9/7/2009 Excellent article. It's really tough being the nice guy or gal. Good people do attract good people and bastards don't attract anyone.

on 3/28/2009 This article is so inspiring. And all this time I thought that I was the one that was crazy. Bastards will do that to you if you allow them to. Thanks so much for uplifting me. Nice work!
