Twitter Your Articles!
Twitter Your Articles!

Twitter can be used as a way to promote your articles. Twitter is a good business tool as long as you use it wisely. It really ought to be used with a mix of personal and business so you do not turn your followers off.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  1. Step 1

To sign up, go to Twitter’s website. I have the web address down below. You may want to use a username that others will recognize as yours, so if they search for you, they can find you. Make sure you don’t mark it as a private account.

  2. Step 2

Now that you are signed up, start trying to find people to follow. You can use Twitter’s search as one tool. Another way to find people, is see if any of the blogs that you follow list a Twitter address. You can ask around on the forums that you visit or the groups you are in. Ehow has a Twitter group if you are using Twitter for Ehow.

  3. Step 3

Now that you are following some people, you will probably start getting people to follow you. If you are not already following them, you may want to add them to your list that you are following.

  4. Step 4

Make sure you write several “Tweets” (posts) a day, to keep your followers interested. I usually do a combination of business and personal. If I have a new article, I “Tweet” about it, if I have a new blog post, I “Tweet” about it too, but I also “Tweet” about stuff that is going on in my family, what we plan to watch on television, when we homeschool, and when I go to bed. If you only “Tweet” about your articles, it will start feeling spammy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind each “Tweet” can only be 140 characters long.
  • Just like anything else web related, be careful about the personal information that you write. I almost never tell where I am going before I leave, I usually say something like, “I just got back from Walmart”. You don’t want to get some crazy person following you and tracking your movements. Also if there is a place that you go at a regular time on a regular day, it would be better not to mention it at all.

on 2/23/2009 Good info about it feeling spam-like if you only tweet about your articles. eHow will sign you up if you go to your preferences. That leaves all the personal up to you.
