There are several ways in which taxpayers can pay their Federal taxes. Unfortunately, taxpayers no longer have an excuse for not paying their taxes in a timely manner. You can pay by check, via electronic transfer through the internet and you can also pay taxes by phone. The Federal government has made it easy for every taxpayer to pay his taxes on time.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Enroll in the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). You can do so by visiting their website at www.eftps.gov or you can enroll by phone by calling 1-800-555-3453.

  2. Step 2

    Decide if you wish to register as an individual or a business. Both businesses and individuals can use the pay by phone option.

  3. Step 3

    Have the appropriate tax identification numbers. If you’re registering as an individual you’ll need your social security number, and if you’re registering as a business you’ll need your business tax identification number. If you are an individual and filing jointly, you will also need your spouse’s social security number.

  4. Step 4

    Complete any additional tax information required by EFTPS. Once you have provided the necessary information, including email address, wait to receive the confirmation of successful enrollment.

  5. Step 5

    Make your tax payments by phone. Once you enrollment has been confirmed, you can begin making Federal tax payments by phone.
