Things You'll Need:
- Glazier points
- Flathead Screwdriver (preferably a short one with a wide tip and flat rubber end to hammer)
- Hammer
- Scissors
- Box cutter or Exacto Knife
- Frame
- Glass
- Mat if desired (acid-free recommended)
- Foam board (acid-free recommended)
- Kraft paper
- Double-sided tape (acid-free recommended)
-
Step 1
First, gather your supplies. Choose a flat workspace that will be free of dust or anything that could cling to the glass.
-
Step 2
Lay your open backed frame face down on workspace. Insert Glass, matboard (if desired), print or picture, then foam board. Carefully lift the piece up to make sure everything is in position correctly.
-
Step 3
Lay everything back down then grab your glazier points, screwdriver, and hammer. Lay Glazier points down so that the flat side is on the foam board and the point side is going towards the frame. You can start anywhere on the frame but keep in mind you want them spaced 4-6 inches apart.
-
Step 4
Butt the screwdriver up against the two verticle prongs and gently tap them into the frame. If the Glazier point starts to bend and doesn't want to go in, pull it out and get another one or try another spot on the frame. Sometimes there are softer areas on the frame that are easier to hammer into.
-
Step 5
Once you have all your Glazier points in and flush to the foam board and edge of the frame, apply the double sided tape to the edges of the frame, ideally closest to the opening.
-
Step 6
Cut a piece of Kraft Paper the size of the frame and apply it to the back. Use box cutter or exacto knife to carefully trim away the excess.
