Lay out the muslin fabric square. Place the two tablespoons of freshly cut lavender buds in the muslin. If fresh lavender is not available in the yard, it can be easily ordered online from the resources located below. Then, bring all four corners to the center, and tie into a sachet with the rubber band.

After replacing the lid tightly, shake the jar for a minute or two. Allow the jar to sit in a room temperature place, such as the counter, for about two weeks. Continue to shake every other day. After two weeks, remove and discard the sachet of lavender. Enjoy the sugar on shortbread cookies, in tea, or other gourmet treats.
