Things You'll Need:
- 2 Tablespoons fresh lavender
- 1 cup sugar (raw or white)
- A glass jar with a tight lid
- Muslin fabric square
- Rubber band
-
Step 1
You Can Order Lavender OnlineLay out the muslin fabric square. Place the two tablespoons of freshly cut lavender buds in the muslin. If fresh lavender is not available in the yard, it can be easily ordered online from the resources located below. Then, bring all four corners to the center, and tie into a sachet with the rubber band.
-
Step 2
Organic Sugar for Lavender SugarPlace the lavender sachet in the glass jar. Fill the glass jar with the sugar. Leave some space, about 1/4 inch at the top of the glass jar, open.
-
Step 3
Lavender Sugar in ShortbreadAfter replacing the lid tightly, shake the jar for a minute or two. Allow the jar to sit in a room temperature place, such as the counter, for about two weeks. Continue to shake every other day. After two weeks, remove and discard the sachet of lavender. Enjoy the sugar on shortbread cookies, in tea, or other gourmet treats.
