If you want a personalized wedding, birthday or anniversary, monogram cake toppers are the cake decoration for you. You can completely personalized any cake using one of these decorative additions. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Monogram cake toppers
  • Cake
  1. Step 1

Lay the cake toppers on the table next to the cake in the exact arrangement you want them to appear on the cake.

  2. Step 2

Make sure the wedding or anniversary cake topper prongs are perfectly straight and long enough to hold up the monogram letters. They should be at least 1 inch for every 2 inches of cake topper. Adjust the cake prongs if necessary by bending them with your hand and a towel.

  3. Step 3

Surround the cake with the decorations that will be on the table when the cake is displayed at the reception. Just to get a sense of how the monogram cake toppers will look and where they should go. Place any additional cake decorations on the cake for the time being.

  4. Step 4

Mark the spot you want to insert the cake topper by pushing the prongs just slightly into the icing. Remove the decorations on the cake if you added any at this time.

  5. Step 5

Hold the cake toppers perfectly straight and perpendicular to the top of the wedding cake and slowly insert the prongs into the cake. Make sure the monogram letters are perfectly straight and perpendicular as you push them into the cake or the letters will end up crooked.

  6. Step 6

Put the additional cake decorations around the cake toppers, including flowers, ribbons or cake charms.

Tips & Warnings
  • When setting up a bride and groom monogram cake topper, the letters go as follows from left to right: brides first initial, groom's last initial, groom's first initial.
  • Other cake toppers include numbers for 25th and 50th anniversary parties, as well as bride and groom figurines which can be used with a cake topper monogram.
