Sell your books online using web sites such as Amazon.com. This is a popular online outlet for selling books to make money. You register to sell on the Amazon website, list your books then sit back and wait for a buyer. Amazon notifies you once someone has agreed to purchase your books, you then pack and ship them to the buyer. Amazon deposits any money you have earned minus the Amazon fees into your bank account every 14 days. One nice feature is you can look up books you are considering selling to see what they are priced at, so you will have a general idea of how much to ask for your own.

Consider selling books using online auctions. For example ebay.com is a popular outlet for selling items to make money online. Fees are charged based on the auction style you choose, listing price etc. You register, list your items, make payment arrangements with the buyer once your item has sold, then package and ship. Ebay also has it's affiliate website for selling books called Half.com which is set up similar to Amazon's format. Looking at the ebay "completed" auctions will give you a realistic idea of how much money you can sell your own items for.

Look into web sites that specialize in selling books. An example is Cash4Books.net. This company purchase the books from you. They mostly buy current textbooks, which you'll find are the books which command some of the biggest prices no matter where you're selling. You can get an instant price quote from these sites just by entering a book's ISBN number. If you want to make money by selling them your books, you download a prepaid mailing label, package your books and send them off. Once the company receives the books they send you your payment.
You can find other web sites by searching online. Search phrases such as "sell your books online", "buying used books" etc. If you have a particular type of book to sell, such as textbooks, you may want to use that in your search.

Also check with local outlets to make money selling your books. Used bookstores such as Half Price Books purchase some desirable books, and also "pay by the yard" or pay a flat book rate for more common titles. They may give you a higher amount if you are willing to take store credit.
