Have you ever had a flat tire? Did you need to call someone to help you because you had no idea how to change a tire? Here are some simple steps you can follow so you can change a tire quickly and easily.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

So you have a flat tire. The first thing to do is to grab your car jack, spare tire and tire iron. These can be found in the trunk of your car under the trunk lining or behind the seat if it is a truck most trucks carry the spare tire underneath the truck.

  2. Step 2

Place the carjack under the axle of the tire that has gone flat. This works best on flat solid ground. Raise the jack by twisting the eye loop in the jack. You want to raise the jack until it is snug up against the axle.

  3. Step 3

Now you may have a hub cap covering your lug nuts on the flat. Use a screw driver and pry off the hub cap to expose the lug nuts. Using the tire iron loosen all of the lug nuts, be sure not to completely take them off we just want to get them started.

  4. Step 4

Now jack the car up until the flat tire is a couple of inches off the ground. Take the rest of the lug nuts off of the flat tire and pull the tire off. You may have to do some wiggling.

  5. Step 5

Once the flat tire is off, put the new tire on by aligning the protruding lug nut threads. Once you are lined up, slide the spare tire on and put the lug nuts back on. You will want to tighten the lug nuts fairly tight with your tire iron.

  6. Step 6

Lower the jack. Take your tire iron and tighten all of the lug nuts. It is important that you tighten the lug nuts that are opposite of one another and work your way around the tire until all of the lug nuts are secure. That’s it now you should be able to change a tire all by yourself.
