Increase The Value Of Your Home

Increasing the value of your home is always great when it comes time to sell. Here are some ways you can improve the looks of your home now that will allow you to have a higher asking price later. Updating small cosmetic things in your home will also help you to sell it faster.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Paint! Painting your home is the easiest way to increase value and refresh old surfaces. Using a sprayer will cut down on the time it takes to paint. You can paint inside and out using a sprayer in as little as three days.

  2. Step 2

Replace old appliances with newer modern looking ones. The new appliances should be dependable and long lasting. Pick something that will never go out of style that everyone will like.

  3. Step 3

Update the light fixtures. If your light fixtures date back to the 70's it is a good idea to upgrade. Nothing fancy unless you can afford it. Stick to the basics.

  4. Step 4

Remodel your bathroom. This takes a little work but it well worth it in the end. Kitchens and bathrooms can make or break a sale.

  5. Step 5

Get a new roof. Metal roofing is more costly but it is great for temperature control which helps with the heating and cooling bills plus adds value to your home.

  6. Step 6

Lay down new carpets or floors. If you are going to use wood floors stick to darker woods and carpets should be neutral. Vinyl flooring or tile in the bathroom and kitchen should be redone also.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember just because you like a certain color or the way an appliance looks does not mean that others will. When remodeling your home to increase the value you need to try and stay open minded and neutral.
