How to Crochet a Striped Prayer Shawl
Prayer Shawls are an easy item to crochet and can be done up in less than 2 days. This one was made with leftover yarn from other projects.
Things You'll Need
- Color A-8 oz. Country Blue
- Color B-16 oz. lt. blue
- Color C-5 oz. dusty blue
- Size N Crochet hook
- Large eyed blunt needle

Instructions for Half Douple Crochet (hdc)
* Step 1: Bring yarn over hook; insert hook in top loop on 3rd chain from hook, hook yourn and draw through(3 loops now on hook).
* Step 2: Hook yarn and draw through all 3 loops on hook. One half double crochet made.

Gauge is not that important in making this shawl. Mine came to 23 inches by 65 inches. A wide shawl will cover the shoulders and back better.

With A, chain 64.
Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each chain across; chain 2, turn.
Repeat with this color for 15 rows. Join in B and finish off A.
Row 16: Repeat row 1 and continue for 42 rows. Join in C and finish off B.

Row 58: Repeat row 1 for 12 rows. Join in B and finish off C.
Row 70: Repeat row 1 for 42 rows. Join in A and finish off B.
Row 112: Repeat row 1 for 15 rows. Finish off. Weave in all ends.

Tips & Warnings
I used Red Heart Yarn, Worsted weight, 4 ply. Any colors can be used or one color until it measures 64 inches.
The reason this is called a prayer shawl is that this is to be made for someone who really needs comfort in prayer. Add a few prayers while you are crocheting specific to who and what is needed.
