Find The IP Address Of Your Router
Find The IP Address Of Your Router

Here is how to find the IP or internet protocol address of your wireless router.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know what an IP address is. IP stands for Internet Protocol and is the unique address assigned on the network to your router. To make changes to your wireless router such as security settings or to boost the transmit power you will need to connect to your wireless router via it's own IP address. The IP address is similar to the Internet address of a web page like e-How except it is local and not on the web. Here is how to find your router's IP address.

  2. Step 2

Try the usual addresses for routers. For most Linksys and Netgear brand routers the IP address that you type in the address bar of your web browser is http://192.168.1.1 For D-Link brand routers it is usually http://192.168.0.1

  3. Step 3

Search for your router IP address. After you enter one of the addresses above and hit enter you should see your router's page come up. If you don't have any luck with these router IP addresses you can Google your brand of router and the term "default IP address" and you should be able to find it. You can also visit the manufacturers website for technical support.
