Things You'll Need:
- 2 mini disco balls
- 2 small metal rings
- 2 Shepherds Hooks with Coil
- pliers
- super glue
-
Step 1
http://www.jansjewells.com/supplies/earringparts.htmBuy 2 mini disco balls, 2 Shepherds Hooks with Coil (or any other earring hoop - this one is the most common), 2 small metal rings (the smaller the better), and super glue. Make sure the earring hook and the metal rings are the same color i.e. silver would probably be best because the mirrors on the disco balls are also silver in color.
-
Step 2
Glue on the small metal rings onto the top of the disco balls. Let the glue dry completely. TIP: So they do not roll onto the metal rings, you may set the disco balls into an ice tray to dry.
-
Step 3
Round Nose PliersPull apart the small ring at the bottom of the Shepard Hook with the pliers and slide it through the small metal ring that you glued onto the disco ball. Close the ring with the pliers. Repeat this step for the second earring. TIP: Sometimes if you lift up the coils you can slide in the hook into the metal ring without using pliers. Voila!

on 8/6/2009 Disco ball earrings sound really cute and easy to make. I would like to start making my own jewelry.

on 7/28/2009 Very cute idea and I like the idea of using an ice cube tray to stay organized! I would suggest opening the hook with a twist to the side as opposed to pulling the ring out to open. The side motion maintains the circle shape of the ring. Thanks!
