Wash a Car
Wash a Car

A clean car is a well loved car.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bucket(s)
  • Car wash
  • Tire Cleaner
  • Tire shine
  • Assorted brushes
  • Microfiber towels
  1. Step 1
    Dirty tire and wheel

Start washing the tires and wheels first. They are often the most dirty parts of the car. Spray a tire cleaner on the tire and let it work its magic for 30 or 45 seconds and rinse off. If the tire is really dirty you may need to scrub it. Wheels usually can be wiped down.

  2. Step 2

Next you want to wet down the car and mix up a batch of car wash. Using either a sponge, brush, or mitt, wash the car down using a gentle pressure. Try to work in sections if it is hot out or if you're working in the sun.

  3. Step 3

Rinse the car down using cold water. Be sure to get all of the car wash off the car.

  4. Step 4

Using a damp microfiber towel, start drying the car down. Use the two towel method by using one towel to get most of the water off and following up with a dry towel.

After drying off the windows and car body, you can wipe down the tires and then (using a separate towel) wipe down the wheels. Apply a tire dressing to create a clean and sharp appearance. For an even cleaner look, wipe down the wheel wells and apply some tire dressing with a applicator.

  6. Step 6

Check the windows to see if they need to be cleaned with a window cleaner. Walk around the car to make sure that you didn't miss any spots and that every thing looks clean.

  7. Step 7
    A dirty engine bay

*Optional* Open the hood and wipe down the engine area. Be careful as this area can be hot enough to burn yourself. Remove any leaves that may be building up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to avoid letting the car wash dry. It'll leave streaks that are hard to get off.
  • There are many different car washes, tire dresses, and cleaners out there. Experiment to find what best suite your needs.
  • Don't use any carwash or brushes that you've used on the tires/wheels to wash the paint. This can scratch and damage the car paint.
