Ah, the ponytail! It's the most common fix for a bad hair day and fast styling. However, sometimes it can turn out not-so-hot and seem like you just threw it up and walked out the door. Here is how you can create a elegant, perfect ponytail!

Step 1

LESS TIME: Ok, so if your in a hurry - just took a shower, and have 20 minutes to get dress, fix your hair AND do your make-up, don't stress. All you simply have to do to create a stylish ponytail in a hurry is to apply some gel or mouse to your hair. Apply from the roots all the way to the ends.
Step 2

Next, comb your hair back (you can leave a part, if you want or straight back) twist the gathering of hair 3 times before securing it with a band. Always make sure to secure it mid ways on your head. Not too high, not too low. Spray with hair spray and your good to go! It will dry on it's on in no time.
Step 3

MORE TIME: If you have a little more time and are wanting to try an elegant ponytail, try this: 1. Blow dry your hair with a paddle brush and your preferred styling products. 2. Part your hair deep to a side. 3. Sweep front of the hair (as if side swept bangs) secure with bobby pins. Spray with air spray to hold.
Step 4

Next, gather the rest of your hair up and put it up mid ways on your head. (Not too high or low). Next take a SMALL section on hair in the pony tail and wrap it around the gathering - secure with a bobby pin. Repeat with another piece the opposite direction around the gathering - secure with bobby pin. Spray for a finished hold...Viola! Perfect ponytail!

on 1/12/2009 My hair is ALMOST long enough for a ponytail again! Thanks for the tips... I think that bit about twisting the hair three times before securing the ponytail might actually keep my crazy frizzy hair from pulling an escape act!
