There are many things you can do to help prevent your car from being stolen and from you being the victim of theft. Here are some tips to follow...

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When you leave your car parked, remember to close the windows and the moonroof of the vehicle before leaving it.

  2. Step 2

Do not leave a spare key in the vehicle, this will only aid in a thief making off with your automobile in the event your car is broken into.

  3. Step 3

If possible park your vehicle in a garage instead of on the street. Cars parked in a locked garage as opposed to being parked on the street are much less likely to be stolen. If you do have to park your car on the street, pick a well lit area of the street, this will help deter theft.

  4. Step 4

Car alarms and steering wheel locks are also a good thing to have to help prevent theft of your vehicle. Remember to lock your car doors as well when you exit the vehicle.

  5. Step 5

Do not leave expensive electronics and other valuables in plain sight in your vehicle, theives look for this type of merchandise that is easily accessible.

  6. Step 6

Having lojack installed in your car will help aid in the recovery of your vehicle in the event it is stolen.

on 1/11/2009 I used to have an old car that I parked on the street with a sign on it that read: "Steal me, please" but no one ever did, and I think I finally had to pay someone to take it.
