Install a Memory Card In your PC
Install a Memory Card In your PC

It can be very frustrating at times, especially on a busy schedule, to clean out, import or delete large files, pictures or important files, from the hard drive to a hard disk or onto "My Book." However, excess files and unused files can decrease the speed of your computer. Therefore, one can install fee RAM to increase speed from download.com or by a memory card to improve your PCs performance.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Desk top computer
  • Dell PC
  1. Step 1

Buying memory or extra RAM (random access memory) is a great way to improve the PCs performance. To do so, make sure that you consult with a computer expert to make sure that you are buying the right memory card for your computer.

  2. Step 2

To install, first turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the tower.

  3. Step 3

Remove the case from the right side of the tower. Then lay the tower on the left side or the unopened side. You should be able to view the mother board between the fan and the hard drive.

  4. Step 4

You should also be able to view the green memory card(s) in the slot resembling the one purchased. The cards should be inserted side-by-side.

While installing the memory card(s) hold the sides, push down with the index finger in the middle of the memory card until the ends snaps in place, between the locking clips.

  6. Step 6

Make sure the memory card(s) are secured in place. Once the memory card(s) are secured in place, reconnect the power cord and power the computer.

  7. Step 7

To make sure that the memory card is installed properly and is being read by the computer, right click on "My Computer." From the drop down menu, scroll down to and click on "Properties." From the "System Properties" window, click on the "General" tab. At the bottom of the window above "Support Information," you should be able to view the amount of GB of RAM on the hard drive.

  • 1. If this is your first time installing a memory card, I would advise you to remove the memory card already installed and replace it to understand how it's installed.
  • 2. While reinstalling the memory card hold the sides, push down with the index finger in the middle of the memory card until the ends snaps in place between the locking clips.
  • 3. Try not to touch the face of the memory card.
