Things You'll Need:
- Blinds
- Dishwahing detergent (liquid form no bleach)
- Household ammonia
- hot/warm water
- bathtub or large soaking container
- scrubbing brush
-
Step 1
Prepare soak. Mix 1 ounce of ammonia per every 2 gallons of hot/warm water and enough dishwashing detergent to make water bubbly. For the small window blind I use the bath tub for my larger blinds and use one of my children's old swimming pool. I like to boil a few pots of water on the stove and dump them in the pool mixed with cold water from the tap and the cleaning agents. If you use an outside method make sure you have a place to pour water out that is out of the way because the soap will probably kill you grass and the ammonia might kill a few earthworms.
-
Step 2
Take off pole to open and close blinds then, remove blinds from window.
-
Step 3
Place blind in soak and let set for a least 2 hours.
-
Step 4
Remove blind from soak and and examine. If they are still dirty place back in soak and scrub lightly with scrub brush.
-
Step 5
Rinse with water and set up vertically to dry. You can also towel dry but why go through the trouble? Once dry snap back up to your window.
