    Scarves are easy to crochet and can make a wonderful warm gift for a child, cancer patient, or anyone in need. There are many ways to find free patterns on the internet of quick and easy scarf patterns to knit or crochet. Just Google the term free crochet scarf pattern.

  2. Step 2

    Find a local charity or organization that is looking for donations of these types of items. There are places that are looking for afghans, hats, mittens, etc. Check with local charitable organizations in your community, hospitals, churches, and local homeless shelters. You are sure to find someone who is in need.

  3. Step 3

    Another idea is to make prayer shawls. Join the thousands of knitters and crocheters of all faiths who are creating handmade shawls for people in need. Whatever your faith and wherever you live, your handiwork will be a gift of comfort, hope, and peace. Over the centuries, shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace, and spiritual sustenance. What started as a grass-roots movement has quickly grown into an international cause, with countless numbers of shawls being given to grateful recipients around the globe.
