learn how to look after your oily skin from home, reducing breakouts leaving your skin fresh, clean and clear!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • antibacterial, purifying cleanser.
  • exfoliant
  • masque
  • toner
  • moisturizer
  • sunscreen
  1. Step 1

    CLEANSERS-
Remove your eye makeup with an eye makeup removal lotion, oil free.
At all times, clean your face with a cleanser specifically for oily skin. As these cleansers have active and anti-bacterial ingredients such as salicylic acid ect, to keep your skin fresh and clean as your skin continuously produces oil that can easily causes breakouts.
I recommend using a professional product for the cleanser as it is the most important part of the cleaning routine. Try the dermalogica dermal clay cleanser. Can also use as a spot treatment masque.
Always double cleanse at night if you’re wearing make-up.
Never use any other cleansers for other skin types as you could breakout and have milias.

  2. Step 2

    EXFOLIANTS-
You should exfoliate every week as oily skin produces extra oil. (sebum)
Use a scrub base exfoliate to really scrub away the excess skin and sebum.Recommend the apricot scrub.
Of course, if you were to have sensitive but oily skin, you cannot use a scrub unless it’s with gentle beads instead. Instead of using apricot scrub, you can use a scrub that is corn cob base. They are round in shape therefore much more gentle on the skin but at the same time, still giving you the scrub you want.
You can also use a rice powder exfoliant. This is very gentle and can use everyday to gently remove your daily dead skin cells. Rice powder exfoliants has a whitening agent therefore good for people who have scars from breakouts or pigmentation.
    Recommend the dermalogica daily microfoliant.

  3. Step 3

    MASQUE-
Using a masque once a week gives your skin the boost that it needs whether your skin needs clearing the pimples, or just protecting the skins barrier.
If you want to clear the pimples, always use a masque that purifies or a clay base.
If you’re after a protection from the sun, smoking, environmental damage, aging ect, opt for a multivitamin masque.

  4. Step 4

    TONERS-
We all know that most people don’t use toners. But using a toner after cleansing and before moisturizing, balances your skin ph level and also help the moisturizer absorb better into the skin.(optional)

  5. Step 5

    MOISTURIZER-
Should only use a lotion base, with no oil would be best. if ever skin gets slightly dry on cheeks throughout winter, use a light cream moisturizer at night. its a skin condition, but your skin type remains oily.

  6. Step 6

    SUNSCREEN-
You can only use a lotion base sunscreen that would not sit on your skin but absorb immediately. You can also use a very light moisturizer that already has spf. you still need to protect your skin from uv rays.
