Things You'll Need:
- oil and gasoline if it's the sponge filter type
- a sink with running water if it's the paper type
-
Step 1
if you have the sponge filter type, what I do to clean that is rinse it with gasoline to get all the old oil out, make sure to wear gloves, and then dowse it in new oil and then wring it out to get all the excess oil out
-
Step 2
if you have the paper type filter, which I also have, I have rinsed it with soap under running water
-
Step 3
this will give it some extended life, just make sure to thoroughly air dry it, you can also use a hair blower to dry it faster, hold it up to a bulb and look through it, is there light coming through it? If you can see light, then air can get through too

on 1/11/2009 My "husband" doesn't come equipped with an "air filtration" system (I couldn't resist, HE'S the one who CUTS our GRASS!) Besides, he rides around on his precious JOHN DEERE. Still, you get 5* for a great how to article.
