A casting net is designed to spread out in a circle covering a larger area and catching more bait. The casting net will expand and land in the water after being thrown, then sink rapidly to catch fish. If you've tried to throw one you realize this is not always the case.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Casting net
  • Lake or pond
  • Patience
  • Bait fish
  1. Step 1

Hold the casting net in the middle with the weights at the bottom. The strap and draw line should be around your left hand if you are right handed.

  2. Step 2

Loop a part of the weighted end of the casting net over your left elbow, then grasp the front of the net by wrapping your left hand around and grasping the net.

  3. Step 3

Continue to hold the net with your right and left hand, and gather 3/4 of the net in your left hand.

  4. Step 4

Stand with your back facing the target, then spin around forward and simply throw the casting net. It should expand in a circle, as the bunched up three quarters of the net spreads out from your left hand.
