How to Make Out of This World Chewy Gingersnaps

I will show you how to make chewy gingersnaps, once you make these you will never go back to regular gingersnaps again.
I know, I know, your probably thinking that's oxymoron a CHEWY gingerSNAP LOL but trust me, it's well worth it! You will not only be eating these left and right, all your friends will think you are a genius for thinking this up, it's a great gift idea, and they are wonderful with hot apple cider!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/4 C Shortening
  • 1/2 C oil
  • 3/4 sugar
  • 1/2 C Grandma's brand unsulphured molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 C all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1 t ginger
  • 1/2 t ground cloves
  1. Step 1

mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until well blended, no need to sift the flour

  2. Step 2

once all mixed together, I make it right away (can't wait LOL) , it is sticky though, so you can refrigerate it for 2 hours to make it firm

  3. Step 3

make small 1 inch balls, roll in sugar, and flatten, bake in a preheated oven 350 degrees 10-12 minutes, or until slightly golden. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • be careful not to over bake, it's easy to do
  • if you have an electric oven, they tend to run hotter try 325 degrees
