This article will list the steps for setting up parental controls on Wii, per the Nintendo website.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click on the Wii System Settings (round Wii button) located on the bottom left corner of the Wii Menu.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the blue arrow to reach the 2nd page.

  3. Step 3

    Click "Parental Controls" and click "Yes."

  4. Step 4

    You can set up your Wii with a 4-digit PIN.

    If you have already set up a pin, enter your 4-digit PIN and click OK. If you have forgotten your PIN, click " I forgot" and answer the secret question. Answers to the secret question are case sensitive.

  5. Step 5

    In the Parental Controls menu you can change the Game Settings and PIN, allowed usage of the Internet Channel, News Channel, Online Communication, and Use of Points.

  6. Step 6

    These are the description to game ratings:

    EC stands for Early Childhood and may be suitable for ages 3 and up.

    E stands for Everyone and may be suitable for ages 6 and up, but may contain mild violence and language.

    E10+ stands for everyone age 10 and older. Games in this category may contain more cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language, and/or minimal suggestive themes.

    T stands for Teen and may be suitable for people ages 13 and up. Games in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

    M stands for Mature and may be suitable for people ages 17 and up. Games in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language.

    AO stands for Adults Only and should only be played by people 18 years and up. Games in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you cannot remember your PIN or your secret question, call Nintendo Consumer Service at 1-800-255-3700.
  • Parental Controls settings do not affect Nintendo GameCube Game Discs.
