Things You'll Need:
- One deck of Uno cards
- 2-4 players
- No sore losers allowed!
-
Step 1
Shuffle the deck and deal seven cards to each player. After every player has been dealt their hand the next card goes face up on the table to begin the game with.
-
Step 2
The basic Uno rules apply. You need to discard one card in your hand to match the top card on the discard pile. You either need to match by color or number.
-
Step 3
If you do not have a card to discard you must draw from the pile. Here's where it gets progressive - you must draw cards until you pick up one that you can discard!
-
Step 4
In addition, when playing progressive Uno, the special cards can be thwarted by tossing down a like card. For instance, if the player before you discards a Draw 2 card, normal rules say you pick up 2 cards and your turn is over. In this version - if you have a Draw 2 card in your hand you can put it down and not pick up any cards. The player after you now has to pick up 4 cards (2 from each Draw 2 card played). Unless of course he or she has a Draw 2 - then they'd play it and the next player would pick up 6 cards and so forth.
-
Step 5
Draw 4 cards are played the same way as the Draw 2 cards.
-
Step 6
Playing this way can be a lot of fun, as long as there are no sore losers who get mad at having to pick up 6 or 8 cards!

on 1/25/2009 We've been playing with similar rules for quite a while now. We call it Extreme Uno. Makes a good game even more fun. Not unusual to reshuffle the deck several times during a hand due to the number of cards drawn by unfortunate players!
