How to Knit a Garter Stitch Hat

Things You'll Need

• Size 10 needles
• 1 ball of bulky yarn

Instructions

1. The gauge for this hat is 3 stitches per inch. Always knit a swatch to check your gauge.

2. Cast on 60 stitches using your cast-on method of choice. Knit every row until your piece is 7 inches long.

3. It is time to decrease for the crown. Knit as follows:
   K3, K2tog across the whole row
   Knit next row
   K2, K2tog across the whole row
   Knit next row
   K1, K2tog across the whole row
   Knit next row
   K2tog across the whole row
   Knit next row
   K2tog across the whole row

4. Cut the yarn leaving a 12-15" tail. Thread the tail onto a blunt needle and pull through the remaining stitches. Sew up the back seam.
