How to Clean Water Rings Off of Butcher Block

This solution is an economical and sustainable method to clean, deodorize, and remove water rings from a butchers block. This also lifts onion, and fishy smells from the wood.
Using basic household items, such as baking soda, salt, water, and lemon juice.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda
  • quart of water
  • teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  1. Step 1
     

    Start by cleaning and deodorizing the butchers block.
    To clean and deodorize, combine the three tablespoons of baking soda and quart of water, mix and sponge the butchers block surface with the solution. Rinse with warm water.

  2. Step 2
     

    To complete the deodorizing, cut a lemon in half and rub the fruit side over the board, let this set for a few minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

  3. Step 3
     

    Finally to remove water stains or moderate bleaching, mix a teaspoon of lemon juice and half a teaspoon of salt together and rub onto the board.
    Rinse with warm water.

  4. Step 4
     

    Let the wooden block air dry and wipe with a sham to absorb any remaining liquid. The rings should be gone and the butchers block is clean and deodorized.
