Shoot a Step Back 3 Point Shot
Shoot a Step Back 3 Point Shot

Shooting and making a 3 point step back shot

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basketball Court / Basketball / Players
  1. Step 1

First, you have to have the basketball in a one on one situation at or around the 3 point line.

  2. Step 2

Do one hard dribble and step in towards the lane. This is done to back your defender off you a step or two. Even if they stay right on you they won't be able to recover once you execute step 3.

  3. Step 3

After taking the hard dribble and one step in you will now jump back off the leg you took the step in with, land on both your feet and give a strong jump with both legs. The key here is not to fade or your going to come up short or off target most of the time. You want to plant firmly on your 2 legs and go up, not out or back. Then you just let your natural shot flow. If done properly you have set yourself up to have room to get the shot off and you have squared yourself to the basket with your 2 leg power jump. Watch your defenders disbelief when you continually nail this shot.

Tips & Warnings
  • If this move become effective you can then add in the "draw a foul" move, such as used by NBA Finals MVP Paul Pierce.
  • Your continual making of this shot might aggravate opposing players
