Step 1
First off, I am not saying this is okay to do. That's up to you. But for those of you interested or just curious, this is how to make a Ghetto Latte.
-
Step 2
Now although this is called a Latte - it's really an Iced Breve Latte, which is one of the priciest specialty coffee drinks. Read on to find out what makes this "Ghetto".
-
Step 3
You go to your favorite coffee shop and order an iced Americano with no water and little ice. (Essentially what you have here is espresso shots over ice in a big cup, which is pretty inexpensive.) Then proceed to the condiment bar where you fill up the cup with half and half. You now have a Ghetto Latte!
-
Step 4
This same drink if prepared by the smiling Barista behind the counter would easily cost over three times as much. Again, I'm not saying you should do this. I'm just the messenger.
-
Step 5
See what some of the Baristas over at the Starbucks Gossip website think of this practice by clicking the link in the resources section below.

on 1/24/2009 I started making these many years ago. I used to order a "venti iced Americano, no water," but then one of the barrista's told me that 4 shots of espresso over ice was slightly less expensive. So, 4 shots in a venti cup with lots of ice.
