How to Burn a DVD Image File
ISO or IMG files represent complete CDs or DVDs compiled as one whole image, just like Norton Ghost does for hard disks and partitions. ISO images let you easily create a backup of a CD or DVD on your hard drive, or download a CD from a software site instead of having them ship a physical disc to you. Windows 7 includes a disc burner directly in Windows Explorer that activates when you double-click an ISO file. However, previous versions of Windows require a third-party program like ImgBurn.
