How to Accept Payments Through Your Website

Save

When you have an online business, accepting payments may help to decrease the amount of manual work you must do in regards to processing orders. It may also make it easier for people visiting your website to do business with you. Online order processing allows you to take major credit cards in addition to the payments you already accept. Even if your customers don't go online to make purchases, you can input their information online if they call in to place an order.

Things You'll Need

  • Your own merchant account or membership with third party payment handlers
  • Install a PayPal payment button on your website (see References). PayPal allows you to send and receive payments electronically. You also can take credit card orders. You may sell digital products, physical goods, services as well as reoccurring membership-type payments. You must sign up for at least a premier account or a business account with PayPal before accepting credit card orders.

  • Install Google Checkout on your website (see References). Google Checkout allows you to sell goods and services as well as subscriptions. Like PayPal, Google allows you to put payment buttons on your website. You must sign up for a Google account, but you can link an existing Google account to your Google checkout account. Once you've signed up for Google Checkout, you may enter your own payment details, make purchases and put "buy now" buttons on your own website.

  • Install CCbill.com on your website (see References). CCbill.com is a credit card payment solution that allows you to sell physical products, memberships and reoccurring subscription billing, live entertainment, downloadable products and a variety of services-based transactions. CCbill offers an advanced fraud detection system incorporated into its payment processing services at no additional charge, and it does not charge a fee for chargebacks on your account.

  • Install CCnow on your website (see References). This payment processor gives you a simple shopping cart interface to use with your customers. The company does not require your customers to log in to any membership area or account to make a payment. CCnow allows you to accept all major credit cards and even links to PayPal as an option for customers with PayPal accounts.
