Things You'll Need:
- Demolition tools (wrecking bars,hammers,flat bar) air compressor, air hose, air framing nailer, Senco screw guns, Senco 21/2 " screws, 7/16" plywood, Decra Metal Shingles, Silicon caulk and caulk gun,

Step 1
Before we startedEvaluate the barn structure. Make sure that the supporting members (the large upright beams pegged together) holding up the roof, are in good shape.
* Tools needed: Good and experienced eye -
Step 2
Doing tear offTear off current roof materials. Set the basket, on the forklift, at the eave level at the barn, and start tearing off the cedar shakes and the asphalt shingles. Put tarps on the ground below, to catch the nails and all the debris.
* Tools needed: Large wrecking bar, flat bar, hammer -
Step 3
Evaluate the roof deck. Determine which if any roof deck boards need replacing. Then replace them. Use 5/4 ths treated deck boards because they match the thickness of the original roof boards.
* Tools needed: Good and experienced eye -
Step 4
Install new plywood roof deck. Install string lines from one end of the barn to the other, right at the eave. Start at one end and lay the first piece of plywood, lining up the edge of the plywood with the line. Leave a nails width between each piece of plywood, to allow for expansion and contraction.
* Tools needed: Pneumatic stapler, 1 1/2" staples, string line -
Step 5
Decra shingles going onInstall synthetic underlayment. Start at one end of the barn roof and roll out the underlayment. Use the button tab stapler to install the underlayment.
* Tools needed: Button tab stapler, string line -
Step 6
Install Decra Shingles. Start at the eave and install the starter strip. Then start on the right side of the barn and lay the shingles down and screw the shingle down in the pre-drilled holes. Finally install the Decra ridge cap.
* Tools needed: Senco automatic screw gun, 1 1/2" Senco screws
