ZINC - Taking zinc tablets help to reduce the duration of your cold. You will find them in the cough drops section of your store.

SLEEP,SLEEP,SLEEP - Get your snoring machine working! Make sure you are getting plenty of rest at night, and if you can, take naps during the day. While you are sleeping, your body is strengthening your immune system.

TYLENOL - acetaminophen works great at bringing down fevers and taking aches away. It is also much easier on your stomach, too.

  4. Step 4

SALINE NASAL SPRAY - use this instead of a decongestant. Decongestants are long lasting, which can lead to your nasal passages swelling. Decongestants also can make you drowsy.

GET STEAMED UP - Using a humidifier keeps your nasal membranes moist, detering cold and flu viruses. If you don't have a humidifier, a nice hot shower can also do the trick to loosen congestion.

CHICKEN SOUP - Chicken soup is not only good for the soul, it is good for clearing congestion, acts like an anti-inflammatory, and tastes good!

WATER - Try to drink at least 8 cups of water a day. Avoid alcohol or caffeine as these tend to dry your system out. The water keeps the membranes in your nose and throat moist to ease congestion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Even if you don't have a cold right now, stock up on these items. They are inexpensive and easy to find.
  • DO NOT give aspirin to your child if he has chicken pox or flulike symptoms!
