Instructions

      Dress rich for less.

Obtain a minimum of several pieces of quality clothing in perfect condition. This may mean buying new, but you can do so on a budget. Look for upscale department store sales and fashion basement bargains. The key is to find at least several shirts and two bottoms, one pants and one skirt for ladies, that can be mixed and matched to create many different outfits.

Pick items made from quality materials, including silk, wool, cotton, linen, cashmere and angora. Avoid polyester blends and man-made materials that are cheaper in look and feel. Read content labels and get to know what quality clothing looks like. Don't be fooled by high-cost, cheap-material clothes.

Accessorize your outfits with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, handbags and sunglasses. (Speaking to the ladies here.)Attention to these details is important and can change your whole look. Again, look for stylish, impressive-looking pieces, although here you will have to be less picky about materials due to cost. Still, one good handbag, well maintained, is better than several cheap ones.

Maintain impeccable grooming. Teeth, nails, hair, skin must all be kept as perfect as possible. Whiten teeth, maintain manicured hands, keep you hair cut stylishly and use good skin cream. Make up for women, tastefully done with quality lipstick, is a must.

I am afraid when this next Depression hits it will be unlike the first one. People aren't as nice as they once were. I fear if I were to dress like a millionaire, I would be robbed of everything. I think I would rather dress like a "poor" person and keep what little I may have. What I see coming isn't looking good. Allison
